It’s easy to start a mlm or network marketing business. The start-up costs are generally low and everyone is enthusiastic about having new distributors join the company. Unfortunately, however, 90% of the people who go into a home based business never achieve the financial success they desire. Why?Because they don’t really know how to market your network marketing business .

A large part of the failure has to do with is now called old school mlm.
Typically, here’s how it works. Someone gets excited about a product and business opportunity and signs up to become an independent sales representative. Then, they are trained by their company and mlm upline leaders to start with their "warm market:" make a long list of family and friends, call each of them, provide some information about the company, invite them to a presentation, possibly do a three-way call or meeting with someone upline, and then sell (close) these "prospects" on the product and/or business.
What happens during this process is that the sales rep gets a very lukewarm or skeptical response. Some people will agree to buy, just to help out their friend or relative, but many say "no" outright, which leaves the new rep open to experiencing a lot of negativity. Unless he or she is very tough skinned, enthusiastic, or oblivious it is a very difficult and slow way to build a business.
What you need are targeted mlm leads versus "everyone." Not everyone on your list of friends and family can possibly need your product or service. It’s a very non-specific (and frustrating) way to find customers.
Let’s imagine that you are starting a Bridal Boutique (instead of a home based business). Of course you would tell your family and friends about it but you would never rely entirely on them to build your new business. After all, at any given moment how many of your contacts are getting married or know someone who is getting married and/or have the ability to influence the shopping decisions of the bridal parties?
With your new Bridal Boutique you’d be doing other things to "market" your business besides just word of mouth marketing. You would have a multi-pronged approach designed to find targeted prospects: women who are going to get married. You might include some or all of these approaches: postcard mailings, flyers, local ads, displays at local bridal fairs, Yellow Pages (maybe), local online advertising, email marketing, giving informational seminars, issuing press releases… The possibilies are endless.
Do the same thing in your business. Learn to how to spread the word, market your network marketing business, and and find targeted MLM leads.
